  1. Research (1.1) ‘D’ Excellent research Sam! You have really gone into the detail regarding the history of Film Noir and more importantly, some of the lighting techniques used (production of Cookies and gobos). This has given you a firm understanding of the genre on which to base your proposal and ideas, well done.
Proposal (1.2) ‘M’ A good proposal that explains your ideas behind four separate photoshoots. What has let you down was your lack of details concerning the lighting techniques you will use (what will use use to light your shots?) and what camera setting considerations must you make, for example, ISO choice, apature (to control depth of field) and shutter speed (to control movement).
Memory checks (2.1 & 3.1) ‘M’ You have demonstrated a good understanding of camera and lighting techniques and skills via your weekly Memory Checks and final evaluation. Try to extend and explain your answers in more detail next time.
Test shots (3.1) ‘M’ You have demonstrated some good photography development by creating a range of test shots, some of which were produced at home, well done. However, there is little evidence or the camera settings used or how you changed things to achieve a good final photograph. What ISO did you use, what apature, how did you light the shots? Next time ensure this information is containined with your contact sheets.
Evaluation, final four photographs, poster and DVD cover ‘D’ Excellent evaluation that details your journey through this assignment that demonstrates the knowledge you have acquired and how you have used it to influence your project. A good final poster and DVD cover using your photography. I feel it could have been stronger, for example, more text on the front cover (cant tell the name of the film) and the poster is in landscape not portrait as required by the brief. I have given you a merit based upon your evaluation and pure hard work you have put in. you can definitely achieve a distinction so keep it up!
